Graduate Program

The Department of Educational Psychology offers graduate coursework in statistics education, including the following courses:
  • Becoming a Teacher of Statistics
  • Statistics Teaching Internship
  • Statistics Education Research Seminar: Studies on Teaching and Learning Statistics

Students may also earn an M.A. or a Ph.D. in educational psychology with statistics education as an area of concentration. A minor in educational psychology with an emphasis in statistics education for students in other graduate programs is also available.

The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Minnesota was awarded the 2007 American Psychology Association (APA) Innovative Practices in Graduate Education in Psychology Award for preparing doctoral students for academic positions which include teaching statistics. This program that prepares graduate students to become excellent teachers of statistics is the only program of its kind in the United States.
